Homecoming Parade 201314-0071

Homecoming

As you may have noticed around campus, Homecoming is almost here. Homecoming week is October 6-12. Many offices all over campus participate in Homecoming in their own ways, but this year our office has started a committee to make Homecoming bigger and better for everyone. Homecoming Committee

In past years, each office, college, division and student group celebrated Homecoming in their own ways. These events are all great and we want to keep them happening, but we wanted to find a way to make them more cohesive. So we formed a Homecoming committee. This committee has representatives from across campus coming together to create one unified Homecoming look and feeling. This is our first year, and we can’t wait to make it Pantherific!

Giving Back

We wanted to find a way to give back at Homecoming, so we have organized a canned food drive. You can find bins at Centennial Hall, Day in the Park, the Office of Civic Engagement and SGA. Donations will go to the Salvation Army.

Events

There are many fun ways to get involved in Homecoming week. To see all of them, check out http://homecoming.gsu.edu.

Panther Parties are a fun new way to get involved with the #pantherfamily on social media. Once you register for a Panther Party, you may be selected to get a whole bunch of free swag! The only thing you have to do in return is share your Panther Party on social media with photos and updates using #pantherparty. We hope to see you celebrating Georgia State in style with one of our Panther Packs!

Dine Out Day will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Several restaurants around campus are participating by offering faculty, staff and students a 10 percent or higher discount with their Panther ID. Go to the website to see which restaurants are participating to plan where you will dine out on Wednesday.

Day in the Park is going to be a brown-bag event to get faculty and staff involved in the Homecoming fun on Friday, Oct. 10. Bring your lunch and wear your Georgia State blue to Hurt Park for music, games and prizes. And don’t forget to bring your canned goods to donate.

Get ready to cheer on your Panthers against Arkansas State on Saturday, October 11. Wear all your Georgia State blue and get to the stadium to watch the Panthers win!
